Ever wanted to know what it would be like to live in a Mad Max movie? This past weekend, I attended an annual festival dedicated to all things Mad Max and post-apocalyptic, including the Death Guild's very real Thunderdome. While the heat was a little bit excessive (over 100 degrees in the shade during the day), the event was still amazing. Four days out in the desert, with some of the most amazing people doing amazing things. Thunderdome, stunningly accurate movie replica cars, amazing costumes, and a fully functional Bartertown. Though, I imagine that a real post-apocalyptic world wouldn't be quite so well stocked with food or the people so welcoming. There was a very real sense of community and everyone was extremely willing to help each other out. As a first timer at this event, I wasn't sure what to expect. But what I got, was a fantastic weekend away from the distractions of the real world. Here are just a few of the photos I took, including the full tribe picture of our group - Tribe Neverwas.
I am already planning for next year. See you in the Wasteland.
